Erdogan: Trade between Russia, Turkey rises 30% in Jan–Oct
ANKARA, Dec 12 (PRIME) -- Trade between Russia and Turkey increased by 30% in January–October, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said late Monday at a joint news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“…cooperation between our countries is developing and strengthening each day. For the first 10 months of 2017 our mutual trade grew by 30%. There are also good figures in the tourism sector. This year we have already accepted 4.5 million Russian tourists,” Erdogan.
A work on strategically important projects implemented by Russia and Turkey – the Turkish Stream gas pipeline and the Akkuyu nuclear power plant – is being successfully held, he also said.
Putin said he had discussed liberalization of trade between the countries with Erdogan.
“I will not hide that a discussion was held today on how and in what direction further steps to liberalize our trade and economic ties should be made. In this sense I believe our conversation was very useful,” he said.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov also said that Russia will provide Turkey with loan funds in the sphere of military and technical cooperation once a relevant agreement is signed.
